A surprisingly hands-on and enjoyable cooking experience. We prepared four dishes completely from scratch and still picked up a few new tricks along the way. The day started with a visit to the local market to select fresh ingredients, with clear explanations of local meats, fish, vegetables, and herbs. Back in the kitchen, we cooked crispy spring rolls, Vietnamese crispy pancakes, lemongrass chilli chicken, and caramelised pork—more than enough food by the end. The setting was a real highlight too, with lovely views over the surrounding vegetable fields.
We were excited to try this restaurant out near the vegetable and herb gardens for a fresh dinner. Many things stood out to us in the menu and we were going to order mocktails and cocktails but were told the bartender left for the day and not available. I settled on a soda while my wife and girls got kumquat juice which was very tasty (kind of an orange lime blend). When picking a salad from the menu for dinner we were also told it was unavailable and the only one available was a watercress salad with sesame and house made dressing. We were happy we ended up with this one as it was super delicious. Moving on to the BBQ section we were also told a couple of our first choices were not available. We settled on the Sesame BBQ Chicken which had an incredible flavour but was dried out. Next was the Lemongrass Pineapple Flambe which was missing the pineapple and the reason my wife wanted it. We ended with the Five Spice BBQ Beef which was amazingly full of flavour and perfectly cooked. We were really excited to try the Thick Rice Noodles with garlic, onion, sweet basil and tofu and thought it was odd that the chef tried directing us to other items instead. We went with it and 10 minutes later we saw a young boy come into the restaurant with packaged ramen noodles which were used in place of the thick rice Noodles which was very disappointing. We ended with flambe bananas which they had to check first if they had bananas.. they did and we got to see the huge flames of them being cooked. This place has huge potential but definitely missed the mark on many things.
Do yourself a flavour (yes, flavour😁) check out Kumquat cooking class in Hoi An. Wonderful experience and amazing food. Fun, engaging chef/instructor. Highly recommended My family had an amazing time.. Just a perfect last day of our holiday.
Wow. What a great day with Vuong. He picked us up at hotel, took us to market, and cooked four course meal with us. He and his brother also provided a salad and dessert, grilled banana. Great fun, friendly, instructive experience.
Amazing taste, wonderful food, lovely cook Also great for vegetarians :) Very quiet in the middle of the Trà Quế Vegetable Gardens Highly recommended
Staff very friendly and helpful. Very awesome meal. We went for lunch and would highly recommend!
We had a private cooking class including the market visit. The chef explained a lot of the local ingredients and it was nice to see how the local shop. Unfortunately the cooking itself was not as hands on as we requested in our booking, a lot was prepared and we basically chopped some vegetables and garlic. Might be good for beginners though. The food was anyways delicious.
Merci a eux
Best food I’ve had in Hoi An. Very tasty lemongrass beef, fresh wintercress salad was very well dressed. It is a bit noisy to be honest due to the ongoing cooking classes, but it was well worth it.
Amazing place. Food is extraordinary and so glad our guide took us here. Bbq meat was spectacular, as was watercress salad. Think it needs to be booked beforehand so plan ahead and you won't be disappointed
Great food, tasty, all local food. Highly recommended. Needs to be booked, well worth it!
Thức ăn tươi, trình bày đẹp, hương vị đậm đà. Nhân viên thân thiện và chu đáo. Rất hài lòng với trải nghiệm hôm nay!
This was such a fun experience. The head chef was lots of fun, very loud but direct. The food was delicious and it just added to the night with the view of the farm and making the food ourselves. Lots of laughs.
Beautiful place in the middle of the fields. Surrounded by nature and fruit trees. The food was very delicious and the people were friendly. We also enjoyed the foot massage
Do not go here for a traditional cooking experience. The chef is rude, it’s not an enjoyable experience. They hand out drinks like they are free and come around at the end of the night and ask you to pay for all the drinks. It’s meant to be an all inclusive night booked through a tour company. What a scam. Never go back.
Really nice restaurant with a very beautiful view and excellent food. Kind staff and relaxing atmosphere feeling like home with the open kitchen.
🔥 Kumquat BBQ – A Hidden Gem! 🥗 Incredible flavors, chilled vibes, and hands-down the best watercress salad I’ve ever had. Fresh, zesty, and perfectly balanced—who knew a salad could steal the show at a BBQ joint? The grilled dishes were smoky and tender, and the whole place feels like a backyard party you never want to leave. Don’t miss it if you’re in town.
We had a lot of good food in Vietnam, but this was our best meal. Great concept (farm to table), great people, great food. Highly recommended
Merci beaucoup.
Best food I’ve had in Vietnam! Everything is extremely fresh. I’ve gone here everyday for lunch. Highly recommend the water-crest salad
Amazing cooking class with Mr. Victor! Restaurant is absolutely beautiful — incredible farm views. Engaging, fun. Food was absolutely delicious. Had multiple options to accommodate the various dietary needs of our group. Highly recommend!
😋😋😋 A must-try watercress Salad I’ve been coming back here several times. The food is just amazing! 😍 The staff are always friendly and make me feel right at home. I highly recommend the watercress salad. It’s resh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Such a lovely spot I’ll keep coming back to again and again! 🥰
This place is wonderful. great family run restaurant. located at owners home! the watercress salad is to die for it was by far my favourite dish so fresh and full of flavour. The bbq meats are super tasty also. The kumquat juice is so refreshing. The owner, staff and family are all so welcoming. cooking class is superb. recommended 10/10. We always visit everytime we are back in Hoi An.
We had a nice time at the Kumquat BBQ Restaurant in Hoi An. The food is good, with pleasant flavors and careful presentation. The prices felt a bit high for Vietnam, but since the customers are all foreigners, that might explain it. 🤔 The restaurant offers cooking classes alongside meals for visitors. From what I gathered, participants make their own dishes during the workshops and then eat them afterward, which is a neat concept. I also chatted with the chef, who seems to be the owner too. He looks after the groups with care, and it was nice meeting him. 😊 The place itself is enjoyable, surrounded by a vegetable garden that adds a pleasant touch. 👍 On the downside, the restrooms let me down. They’re not very clean and could use better upkeep. 😠 They’re also tough to access for people with disabilities, the hallway leading to them is narrow, paved, a bit muddy, and has water running through it. For someone in a wheelchair, it’s tricky due to the tight space. 🤔 That’s something they could work on to improve the experience.
If you love Vietnamese food, Kumquat Hoi An isn’t just a cooking class—it’s a full-hearted immersion into the flavors, traditions, and magic of Vietnamese cuisine. Set in the lush Tra Que Village, where family-run gardens overflow with fresh produce, this experience begins with a market tour and ends with a four-course feast we cooked ourselves. And in between? Pure joy. Chef Thanh and his incredible team don’t just teach—they share, celebrate, and invite you in. With humor, warmth, and an artful mastery, they reveal the secrets behind their restaurant’s signature dishes. From hand-rolling spring rolls and perfectly charring BBQ chicken to tossing fragrant pork and lemongrass stir-fry and crisping up delicate Vietnamese pancakes, every step felt like unlocking a new layer of flavor. The sauces, the techniques, the balance of sweet, sour, salty, and umami—each bite told a story, and every dish felt like an act of love. This isn’t just a class; it’s an unmissable experience for anyone who loves Vietnamese food and wants to truly understand its heart.
Excellent day starting with a really informative and fun market tour then a great few hours cooking with Mr Thanh who is a great teacher The food was the best we've had in Vietnam so far. The My Quang and Mr Thanh's home made BBQ chicken marinade was a highlight!
Came for a cooking class, located in the middle of the vegetable garden. Peaceful setting and the chef took his time to talk us through ingredients and cooking technique. Highly recommend
This place is quite an experience. I went as part of a group. The owner is very interactive (and quite loud) but full of fun. We watched as they barbequed one dish after another. ... All of which were delicious. Definitely worth a visit.
Amazing Food & Peaceful Atmosphere – A Must-Visit! We had an incredible dining experience at Kumquat BBQ Restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing—everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The environment is peaceful, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a fantastic meal. One of the highlights of our visit was the chef, who not only has great culinary skills but also a wonderful personality. He is funny, welcoming, and clearly passionate about his cooking, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. We loved it so much that we visited twice during our trip to Hoi An! If we have the chance to return, we would definitely come back again. Highly recommend trying the pork with green leaves and the BBQ meats—they are absolutely delicious! The garden salad is also incredibly refreshing and pairs well with the grilled dishes. If you’re in Hoi An, Kumquat BBQ Restaurant is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
We had a great session at the cooking course. There are plenty of courses on offer in Hoi An but this would be very hard to beat. The Chef has a terrific sense of humour as well as a talent for teaching and the food is excellent. Highly recommended!
My partner and I did the cooking class today with Vuong! It simply was amazing, one of the best things we have done whilst travelling around in vietnam. Vuong was AWESOME!! Couldn’t recommend this enough!
Must do cooking class. Thanh and his brother Vue were fantastic. They imparted so much knowledge about Vietnamese ingredients, then taught us how to make four Vietnamese dishes, which were delicious. The atmosphere was very friendly and the support staff were very good. Do not miss the opportunity to do this if you’re in Hoi An.
Absolutely make this part of your Hoi An experience. Food is phenomenal, service is entertaining and genuine, and the chef doesn’t hide his personality or desire to fill your belly with his delicious BBQ. Would eat here again and again! Great environment for kids and the chef isn’t shy about interacting with them to ensure they have fun. One of our most favorite experiences in Vietnam so far, half because the food was good and half because the chef and his staff were amazing.
Kumquat Hoi An offers an exceptional cooking experience, blending expert instruction, cultural immersion, and hands-on learning in a way that feels both deeply engaging and effortless. Led by Chef Thanh and his outstanding team, the class takes place in Tra Que Village, surrounded by family-run gardens that supply the freshest ingredients. The experience begins with a guided market tour before transitioning to a hands-on cooking session, culminating in a beautifully prepared four-course meal. Chef Thanh’s teaching style is both warm and highly professional, guiding us through signature dishes with precision, passion, and a deep love for Vietnamese cuisine. From learning the art of spring rolls to mastering balance in sauces and marinades, each step built our confidence and appreciation for the craft. This is an absolute must-do for food lovers, offering a rare opportunity to cook and dine in a setting that feels both authentic and unforgettable.
It’s clear that this place has a trained chef/owner overseeing the kitchen, making it stand out from the typical eateries you find all over Hoi An. Surprisingly, the dish I’d return for is the salad our table shared at the beginning. It was just a simple mix of dark crispy greens, freshly picked from the garden on-site, and tossed with a light vinaigrette, but the flavors were perfect. We also had a la lot leaf-wrapped appetizer and grilled chicken with lemongrass, but most notably, the grilled beef with the chef’s house-made BBQ sauce was the most tender beef you’ll find in Vietnam. I’d recommend coming here when you're ready to try elevated styles of Vietnamese cooking.
My wife and I attended a cooking class with Mr. Victor and his team. We had great fun learning how to make some lovely Vietnamese dishes. They made it such a fun experience exploring a local market before heading to the restaurant to do the class. Mr. Victor was such a fun teacher and he and his team made the experience so much fun and one I'd recommend to anyone visiting Hoi An.
Excellent! We got what the chef recommended, he was so passionate about the food. He catered for one of us who was a vegetarian specially and her food was as good as the rest. Best meal we had in all of Vietnam 🇻🇳
We did a private cooking class, and I can recommend it to anyone. The owner and his team are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We learned practical recipies we can try at home. Will definitely be back.
What a great experience! My husband and I both had a great evening at Kumquat Hoi An with Mr Victor. The food tour of the local market was definitely a full sensory experience. The food was delicious and Mr Victor was entertaining. Highly recommend.
Super cadre !!
This was not a hands on cooking class. Everything was preprepared. The only thing we did was chop garlic, spring onions, lemon grass and roll up spring rolls. Mix some preprepated ingredients together and swirl the oil in the fry pan. 1 of the meats was cooked without us even being aware it was happening. The eggplant casserole in clay pot - no clay pot. Was just eggplant soaked in salted water, fried and soya sauce with spring onions added. Not a good flavor at all. We've done a few hands on cooking classes in SE Asia where we were very much 'preparing and cooking' the meal. He wasn't even interested enough to ask our names. He sat with a friend for most of the time ignoring us. A very very disappointing experience.
Had a fabulous evening participating in a cooking class with Chef and his team. I learnt new skills, food was delicious and had a lot of fun. Wish I had more time to go back as a diner.
I did this cooking class and I highly recommend it for beginners and advanced people. Chef is the most enjoyable and entertaining man, family friendly, this is situated in him home/Restaurant with his family involved, it was amazing.
Best place we’ve been to this far in Vietnam!!! The BBQ was tasty (chicken and pork). Fresh salad from the community gardens. Top notch.
What a wonderful dining experience, an open kitchen where you can watch the chef prepare & cook your dishes using vegetables & herbs from the garden. The food was delicious & we will be returning. Thanks Victor
Great place. Very fun. Get to watch the chef cook your food Infront of you. He explains where all the ingredients come from. Portions are also very generous.
Superb restaurant on the outskirts of Hoi An You can choose from a set menu or al a carte, and then relax whilst the excellent chef cooks the food in the open kitchen right next to where you sit, using fresh ingredients grown and picked from literally on the doorstep. The food was cooked to perfection and you can really taste the freshness in the flavourings. Beautifully presented and served by the chef's wife and team, and excellent value, this is a must for visitors to Hoi An
Great experience learning how to make some traditional Vietnamese dishes. The staff is really friendly and the Chef is funny.
Kumquat was recommended by another family so we’ve visited for lunch. It’s my third trip to Hoi An and it’s my #1 restaurant by far now. Amazing fresh produce and bbq style meals not found anywhere else. Only a short 5min taxi from the old town or even shorter from the beach. We’ll worth it!
It was voted one of (if not top)best experiences by our two families for our over two weeks across Vietnam. Great food, lovely position away from the crowds. Friendly and welcoming staff (and family). We came back just to have a dinner after our experience at the cooking school. Highly recommend. We had five teenagers doing this, they loved it.
We've just been here two consecutive nights for dinner (yes, we immediately returned). I initially couldn't tell if this place was JUST a restaurant or only a restaurant + cooking class. Don't worry, if you don't want to take the classes, you can just come here to dine. It's a lovely open air setting facing a field of fresh greens. The chef is a real pro. He shared his secret BBQ sauce recipe with us: it's incredible. The ingredients are fresh (I believe many are sourced from right out front). We enjoyed different grilled meats each night, fresh rice paper wraps and sauteed veggies. I'm a cook, I've been to a lot of delicious restaurants around the world and seriously, this guy really knows what he's doing. Relax, watch the kids playing out front, have a beer and enjoy a great, reasonably priced meal. Easy 5 stars.
We did the cooking 🧑🍳 class and enjoyed it immensely. Great teacher, very patient.
We came here for a quick supper on our way to the beach after reading all the reviews and I am glad that we did so. The chef is passionate about his food and served us a very delicious meal. He also came to our table and greeted us despite being busy with the cooking class. The server got our order wrong but apologised and chef made a new one soon. Good, professional service too. Highly recommend it after a hike to the herb garden and water wheel.
Really good food and lovely staff! The chef was really nice and explained everything to us. The food was so fresh and delicious! A lot of spices, a great amount of greens and vegetables. They also took care of dietary preferences and offered vegan / vegetarian options as well.
We had a phenomenal experience! We were able to book a private dining experience the day before and had an amazing time! The chef and his team are attentive, helpful, and funny. We made so much food that we weren’t able to finish our last meal (of 4!) so the owner nonchalantly turned it into a takeout meal for us. Drinks are available and the food was all very fresh and locally sourced. The ONLY heads up I’ll give is this is a cash only establishment, like it says on his website. He will even help call you a taxi afterward if need be.
Booked a private cooking class in mid December for my stay in March. 18 hours before class was scheduled, the owner messaged me to say he needed to change the time, but I already had something booked at the time he wanted. While messaging back and forth, his responses were very vague, and I knew the class wasn't going to happen. I would not recommend booking a class here, instead go to Claypot Restaurant, they know how to keep a reservation, the food is amazing, and the owners are incredible. Way more professional than at Kumquat.
Love this place, we stayed around the corner for a month and it was one of our favourites. The owner is fantastic and great to speak to, he's a chef and it shows in his care and approach, it has a very unique menu compared the regular local dishes that you tend to see a lot of when out eating. Has really created something special with his menu and the flavours and style of cooking are something special, not to mention that he pulls most of the ingredients out of his garden fresh every day. A beautiful place to sit which is off the beaten track in the middle of a farming commune. Back home now and already missing it. Price wise it's very cheap considering the quality of what you're eating and the experience of being there. Was always surprised when the bill came as we were ordering for four every time. Can't wait to come back again
A nice change from the old town scene. Vietnam bbq and traditional dishes served in a shaded setting overlooking green fields. Peaceful. Tasty. We had a tender watercress salad. An appetizer of stuffed greens. And then the signature chicken and beef barbecue with stir fried okra. I recommend the chicken. They spend their days giving classes, but dinner is a must. Take a grab ride to get there. It is 10 minutes from old town and not very much parking.
This BBQ restaurant needs to live up to what it promises. The owner was more interested in entertaining his friends rather than attending to his customers. The food was basic and lacked flavour and the presentation was very basic. It lacked authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Do yourself a favor avoid at all costs.
A découvrir absolument !
We had a memorable experience during our cooking class and lunch at Rumquat. The chef teacher was very instructive and fun. Under his expert guidance we prepared and enjoyed a very tasty Vietnamese lunch.
Heerlijk! Alles wordt vers bereid, heeft zoveel smaak. Mooi uitzicht.
this was easily the best food we had in Vietnam - so nice to cycle through the vegetable village and come here for lunch, was really lovely and peaceful too! We recommend the banh xeo, stir fry fish fillet and five spice and bbq chicken!
The chef and all his staff are very nice and helpful. The food is amazing! It's catered to tourists, but definitely traditionally Vietnamese. The prices are very reasonable. The chef uses a lot of products from his own land. The countryside is beautiful, even at night. We would recommend this to everyone!!
An elaborate but also simple dinner, every dish was fresh, homey, and full of care from the chef. This is one of the best meals in Vietnam we’ve had not just because of the food quality but most importantly the down to earth atmosphere at this family restaurant. We’d love to come back and visit again.
We went to do a cooking class at this restaurant and it was a blast! The chef is phenomenal and super likeable and had clear instructions on how to prepare each dish. He was also flexible in that we didn’t want to eat/cook meat. We had three courses and we were FULL!! Everything tasted great and the ingredients were all fresh. Highly recommend.
I booked a cooking class at this restaurant after cycling past it and seeing their sign. Had a great time! The restaurant is gorgeous -- open air, with no separation between kitchen and restaurant, with a full view of the vegetable gardens. The cooking class was a very personalized experience. The host is affable, friendly, and professional. All the food was delicious. Definitely recommend.
This was one of our favorite meals in Vietnam. Had we discovered it earlier, we would've easily come back and signed up for their cooking class. The owner was very kind and prepared all the food near our table and with fresh ingredients. The papaya salad was particularly tasty and was a generous portion at a fair price. We loved trying some new dishes and also some old favorites with the owner's personal spin on it. The setting is very peaceful and just a short bike ride from the city center. Do yourself a favor and come visit and come hungry!
I am conflicted. Some parts of our dining experience here were excellent. Some of the dishes were some of the best we have tasted in two weeks around Hoi An. The struggle is with how this Restaurant copes with A la carte diners while running cooking classes. The night we went the staff were focused on the cooking class. It took longer than it should to place orders and get food to the 3 tables of casual diners. If the establishment is going to run classes and accept walk in diners then it needs to service both adequately. Maybe check of big classes are on the night your intending to go?
Chef Thanh offers a fantastic cooking class that starts with a visit to a local market and ends at his home/restaurant. We learned a lot and everything was delicious, and he was very attentive to our tastes and requests. Highly recommended if you're in Hoi An
One of our best meals in Vietnam. Open kitchen space, you enjoy lunch next to the garden while watching the chef preparing the food. Run by a friendly and very hospitable family. The pancakes and the pork leaf rolls were excellent.
The best one in Hoi-An. Had a wonderful dinner. Which the reatuarant serve you with fresh from the garden yard next to the restaurant. Chef made a freah papaya salad and made salad sauce from small orange from the garden yard was the best. And all foods were very best. Recommend.
Amazing cooking class in a beautiful setting surrounded by vegetable gardens. Make sure you book the visit of the morning market as well. As it makes the experience even better. Everything we made was delicious and can be re-created at home ❤️💛
This restaurant is amazing! The chef plucked the vegetables for our dishes right in front of us and cooked our meals in a big open kitchen. While we were having dinner, there was also a cooking class going on in the kitchen, which was fun to watch. We ordered the bbq prawn, bbq beef, and eggplant and all of them were delicious!
A very special Homemade BBQ dinner set in the herb fields. Excellent service and wine too compliment our food. My favourite was the BBQ eggplant
The food was just amazing. Such an amazong, unique flavours! Fish with passionfruit sause was just perfect! Wanderful place in calm and cozy atmosphere! The chefs were so friendly!
If you are in Hoi An and want to learn to cook delicious and simple Viet dishes, you gotta visit Victor. Its literally a farm to table concept and my second time doing his class. This time I took my mum and dad, sister and her husband. We were a private group of 5 and opted for the market option. Victor is very knowledgeable about all the veges and ingredients and imparts his insights. I had not stepped into a wet market for 15 years and this was quite an adventure - my parents loved it. We made lemongrass clam soup, sweet and sour fish soup, pho, lemongrass chicken and spring rolls. Everything was super tasty and we will be practicing at home for sure. Thank you Victor!
Went here as a cooking class and would definitely recommend. The service is great and the staff is so friendly ☺️
My family and I had a simply lovely cooking class at Kumquat with Thanh. This is a proper hands on class. We really recommend Thanhs class as we could choose what we wanted to cook and so many fresh ingredients straight from the garden. Great place.
Amazing flavours a really good place to eat! The house special should not be missed.
lovely place out of the bustling Hanoi, food is not only delicious but it grows beside the restaurant. Local people, sunset over the field and cocktails make the experience a must in Tra que and maybe also in Hoi An
I'm glad we made it to this place. It is authentic and homely, although they take the art of treating meat very seriously. The owner is very customer-oriented, advises, takes interest, jokes nicely - he gave us great advice on his best dishes, we left very satisfied and full. We really like it when owners or restaurant staff are just sincere in what they do and treat you normally, not like a stupid tourist. This is our first time in Vietnam and we tried to choose only authentic places to get the strongest feel for the country and its specialties. Prices are affordable, portions are large - everything is served fresh, made on your eyes after you order. You feel very taken care of by the owner, he looks after and advises you - basically he knows best what else you need. Thank you for a great evening!
The Kumquat chef walked us through the village garden showcasing the local fresh produce Then we sat between the open kitchen and garden watching freshly picked become the most delicious meal we've had so far in Vietnam A scrumptious foodie experience
Great ambience overlooking the garden where the ingredients for the fabulous food is picked fresh.
This was the best food I’ve ate in Vietnam, and I’ve ate a lot whilst on my trip. The chef was amazing, he was so friendly and passionate, cooking in an open plan kitchen so you see the whole process. The quality of the meat is what made it so good. It would melt in your mouth. The flavors were unmatched and I dreamt of this food for a few days after…
Mr Victor and his staff could not have been more accommodating for our wedding reception dinner. Before the wedding we met at his gorgeous venue in Cam Ha, where he adjusted the menu perfectly for all of our guests needs and whatever we wanted. The food was incredible, the bbq was amazing and the vegetables were all picked right from his garden. Our guests of about 30 were so pleased as were we. I highly recommend using his catering services for parties/events or even just going for a short ride to check out his amazing place! Couldn't be happier! Thanks so much.
Did a private cooking class with chef! He is one of the happiest and nicest chef instructors out there. Very patient and willing to share his knowledge. His recipes are easy to follow and to replicate if you're in SEA where ingredients are not hard to source. His recipes are also very flexible and forgiving, giving you ample space to have some creativity. We cooked 4 dishes, all of which were very delicious. I will do it again in future if the opportunity arises. He has a long list of dishes you can choose to learn so it's not a problem to come back 2 or maybe even 3 times! Highly recommend for food lovers
Our family visited the restaurant for dinner, everything was absolutely amazing! We loved all the food, the service and the atmosphere. The owner welcomed us with not only his friendliness but also with his heart! It’s also amazing how simple but delicious his cuisine is all about! The best restaurant with cooking class set up in Tra Que Village! We definitely come back here!
Wow. Probably the best dinner I’ve eaten in my life (other than my wife’s) food was amazing. Set out of town on his peaceful property. The chef and his wife were very friendly and welcoming. The chef made sure we got our grab when we left. We will be definitely be back. Very reasonably priced.
the class was excellent. The place is very spacious and the ingredients from the field to the kitchen were great. A personalized class and very complete menu. everything was delicious and we liked the variations the chef gave us to make more recipes at home. An unforgettable experience with incredible people.
Best lemon grass chicken we’ve had so far in Vietnam, because of the charcoal oven! Chef was super nice, and his dishes were all so tasty, especially the Shrimp flambé. I’d looked through reviews and we finally decided to eat here for dinner because we’re staying quite close near An Nang beach. Would come back and recommend to others as it’s in a unique setting (outside a community farm) and a relaxing spot outside of the city.
We are so glad we got to experience this cooking class. Not only did we learn how to cook delicious food, but we learned SO MUCH about Vietnamese culture, families, and produce. You follow the process from growth, to market to plate in such a beautiful, casual way. We shared many laughs and invaluable knowledge. 10/10.
Best food and experience we had in Hoi An. Stopped here for lunch biking from beach back to city. Food was so good (you must try the pork wrapped in lot leaves and grilled - the house special) came back the cooking class the next day. Very quaint area away from noises of Hoi An. Family business and the chef speaks multiple languages. Small garden he grows most of his own vegetables. Learned in large resort kitchens so has experience running a kitchen, not just cooking. Made the cooking class very educational! 10/10 recommend this place for food or class.
Chúng tôi đã thử gói dịch vụ kết hợp nửa ngày bao gồm đạp xe từ khách sạn đến nhà hàng, tour đi thuyền dừa và lớp học nấu ăn. Tất cả các hoạt động đều rất thú vị, đặc biệt là lớp học nấu ăn, vừa vui vừa bổ ích. Rất đáng để thử.
We were here twice during our stay in Hoi An. It is a must visit as it is nestled in a vegetable field. Nice shading all day. The service is amazing. You get to observe their cooking.(cooking classes are available too) Every is made fresh! Flavor is wonderful! The house special is truly special! The watercress salad was much better than I imagined. The grilled and flabe dishes are well seasoned and you receive decent quality. Also cocktails are great with local ingredients!
A cool treat for anyone looking for authenticity in their Vietnamese food. A whole market place where each little kitchen specializes in their own thing. It may not look much on the outside but once you enter it feels like you entered a painting. A true Narnia experience. The food was delicious buy not the best I've had in Hoi an. Even so I recommend it for anyone wanting to try Vietnamese cuisine!
Awesome cooking class ! The chef first took us to the local market where he explained many things about the local ingredients and agriculture. It was very interesting. Then we did the cooking itself : we cooked one meal and eat it right away then cook the next one and eat it so it was always hot and crispy which was really nice. The ingredients were fresh and the food was very good. The chef is very funny and explains everything really well so we could remember when we do it at home. Little critique : it would have been nice to have a paper with the menu and all the ingredients needed because I'm afraid we are going to forgot some things.. Overall it was a very nice experience and we really enjoyed our time at Kumquat !
Had dinner here last night on a recommendation. Was so impressed by the quality of the food and presentation. Eating in the alfresco amongst local market gardens.
Geweldig. Zelfs nominatie trip adviser
Heerlijke Vietnamese BBQ gerechten !
The food was amazing. You can see the chief cooks. The service is very nice. Highly recommend
The absolute best meal we have had in Vietnam. The owner and his family were wonderful. The setting is away from the hustle and bustle of town and very quiet. This is a must do. Awesome food and an awesome family. Update: We were back there again 2 months ago. Just as good!!!!
What a fantastic experience, really enjoyed learning to make these super tasty dishes. Would highly recommend this to all visitors to the area.
Best bbq we had in Vietnam. The salad was a bliss! It's a pleasure to watch the chef cooking with passion. His wife doing service is very attentive and professional. Nice atmosphere and decoration. Good value. Most highly recommended!

We were part of one cooking class on monday. The recipes were great! The cook is very experienced. We were group of 3 people, so there was enough time for all the questions. The restaurant has an open kitchen so you can watch everything, what is going to happen.
Been there to eat. Great Food, good service, nice people! Been there the other day to do a cooking class. Even Greater! We were took to the market in the morning, which was really informative and just frequented by local people. Afterwards we cooked six delicious dishes we could choose out of a big list of possibilities. We really enjoyed this and it was one of our highlights in hoi an!
Very good choice for dinner or half day cooking class whenever you're in Hoi An. The family so hospitality. Foods just simply amazing. Thank you
The chef picked us up at our hotel and brought us to the restaurant for an afternoon cooking class. We toured the farmland nearby and discussed the food being grown and tasted fresh herbs. Then we came back to the restaurant to prepare 5 dishes. It’s a hands on cooking experience with close attention by the chef to ensure proper techniques. He made it fun and interesting, and the food was the best of our trip! Highly recommend!
Probably our best dinner in Hoi An, in a lovely space with a beautiful garden. Excellent bbq and fresh flavours, simple but delicious. I love going to places where people put their passion and love into their food! The open kitchen is great too as you can see the chef preparing everything. The owner chatted to us for a bit about the restaurant and cooking school and we wish we had discovered this earlier in our trip.
Cozy family restaurant with delicious fresh food. The restaurant is located in the heart of the vegetable gardens. Can recommend the banana flower salad
A Must-Visit Restaurant With so many delicious and varied restaurants to visit in Vietnam, it's great when an establishment stands out for all the right reasons. This is one of those places. The food is fabulous, simple but impactful, flavoured and healthy. Cooked with professionalism and passion. The owners are fantastic, took the time to talk to us and tell us more about themselves and their restaurant. Everything we ate was lovely and we'll be back to do the cooking class when we are next in Hoi An. You should definitely go!
Món ăn ngon nhất chúng tôi được thưởng thức ở Việt Nam trong suốt chuyến đi! Không còn nghi ngờ gì nữa! …
nhà hàng tốt
We visited this place for lunch on the way from Hoi An to An Bang beach. We used Uber to get there. Does not cost much less than 2 dollars. When we got there, there were no customers so we were not so sure about this place. But! We soon realised that we were so lucky to find this place. We had great time. The place was so relaxed as we could see green vegetable gardens and field from our table. It was great escaping from busy Hoi an tourist area. Cheif was very professional. He speaks English very well. Had long experience in Hotels. Food was absolutely great. We had good conversation with him after dinner. The food were well presented, clean and tasty. Everything was perfect. Highly recommended! !
Everyone in the whole family was so welcoming and friendly. Food was fresh and delightful. It's like you're invited to a warm family gathering. Truly an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.
Like the Michelin guide writes, the restaurant "vaut le detour" ! A bit far from the city, hidden in a small alley, that is a place where to stop coping back from the beach or if you want a quiet dinner far from the crowd. Food is really delicious, tasty, delicate, surprising and the family who takes the restaurant amazingly friendly. I'm sure to make discover the restaurant to my friend when back with them in the area.
Incredible family owned restaurant in a peaceful environment. Everything they make here is with fresh local ingredients — they are surrounded by farms. An absolute must if you are visiting Hoi An. Good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They also have cooking classes if you want to learn how to make traditional Vietnamese food. They are adding a coffee shop/library above the restaurant. If you have spare books (both adult and children's in any language) they would greatly appreciate the donation. It's a great way to give back to the local community.
